Requirements to the articles submitted for publication in Azerbaijan Journal of Educational Studies

Content of articles

The articles should be devoted to actual topics, meet the academic requirements of the journal’ s style and content and consist of “Introduction”, “Main part”, and “Conclusion”. The introduction should contain a thesis that will assert the main argument. In the main part, the studied issues and the

raised questions should be explained and analyzed in detail in the sections. In the conclusion, the author should reinforce the importance of the main idea, emphasize his scientific contention and appreciate his topic in personally relevant ways, and it is noteworthy to shine the scientific novelty and the benefits of the work and to oer suggestions and recommendations.

 

Rules for preparing articles and scope

1) The articles submitted for the editorial must meet the following requirements, including the conditions set out for the periodical scientific

publications presented by the Higher Attestation Commission under the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan:

— Title of the article, author's name, surname, position, academic degree, name and address of the organization where he works, e-mail address and telephone number should be written on the title page of the article. 

— Keywords (in Azerbaijani and English) should consist of 3-5 words and phrases.

— Abstract (in Azerbaijani and English) should be approximately 150-200 words, with the same content.

2) The text should be typed in Microsoft Word, A4 (210x297mm), Times New Roman — 12, size 10-16 sheets.

3) The title should be capitalized in capital letters, and subheadings should be written in bold, italic, with the first letter in uppercase only. Before and after the headline and subheadings, tables and figures (also equations and formulas), a single line spacing should be added. Pages should be numbered in the lower right corner.

4) The table and pictures must be named, and the name should be placed in the left-hand corner above the table, and pictures name should be placed in the left-hand corner under the picture. 

5) There should be references to scientific sources related to the topic of the article, as well as the sources noted at the end in "used works" should be mentioned in the text as [Mammadov A. Baku, 2010] and finally numbered in alphabetical order. If there is an online reference in the text, you should put an internet link below and number it from one. The information on each reference in the Literature List must be in full, accurate and the native language. The bibliographic description of the source should be based on its type (monograph, textbook, scientific article, etc.). The name of the article, report or thesis should be cited when referring to scientific articles, materials or theses of symposium, conference or other prestigious scientific events.

All sources referenced in the text should be cited in the "Used Works or References" list, along with the page numbers, as specified in the following examples:

a) References to books:

b) References to journals:

d) Copyright and Patents:

e) Internet pages (references to web pages should be indicated in full):

The article should give preference to scientific materials, monographs and other reliable sources for the last 5-10 years.

6) The article should be submitted to the editorial oice in two forms: by e-mail (editor@journal.edu.az), or by the author himself. The original signature of the author is important.

 

Publication Languages

 

Publication language of Azerbaijan Journal of Educational Language (Azərbaycan Məktəbi) is English from 2020 publication year.

Manuscripts can be submitted in English. The submitted manuscript must respect the rules of grammar and related scientific literature.

After acceptance of the manuscript, the final copy must be submitted in both languages. The final copies submitted are checked by the Journal's linguistic editors (English). Language editors can request proofreading in case of shortcomings. Proofreading must be carried out by one of the accredited linguistic institutions proposed below. The author (s) are responsible for the delivery of the items.

History

 

Publication language of the Journal was different 

Since 1924 - to 1930 in Azerbaijani but Arabic alphabet.

Since 1930 - to 1940 in Azerbaijani but in Latin alphabet

Since 1941 - to 1991 in Azerbaijani and Russian in Russian Alphabet Kirill

Since 1991 - to 2019 in Azerbaijani, Russian, Turkish and English in Latin-Roman alphabet and Russian Kiril alphabet

Since 2020 in English

 

 

Complaints Policy

This process applies to complaints about the policies, procedures, or actions of the AJES editorial board. We welcome complaints because they provide an opportunity to improve journal performance. Please write your complaints under the name of the journal, volume number, issue number, paper ID, paper title, and the page number.

 

The definition of a complaint is as follows:

The complainant defines his expression of unhappiness as a complaint. We conclude that the applicant not only disagrees with the decision we made or with what we posted but believes that there was a process failure - for example, a long delay or a rude response - or a serious misjudgment.

The complaint must be about something that is within the responsibility of the Azerbaijan Journal of Educational Studies- content or process.

Research results misappropriation

Multiple, duplicate, concurrent publication/Simultaneous submission

Authorship complaints

Allegations of research errors and fraud

Research standards violations

Undisclosed conflicts of interest

Reviewer bias or competitive harmful acts by reviewers

Guiding Principles

Although, complaints are rare but inevitable, when assembling complex materials, we endeavor to address any complaints quickly to resolve the issue giving rise to the complaint. We acknowledge that we make mistakes and try to deal with all complaints as quickly as possible, however small. We believe that solutions to complaints can prevent the risk of problems. All significant errors and complaints are passed to senior executives within the editorial staff as a matter of course.

The procedure outlined below is designed to be fair to those who file complaints and those who are complained about. All complaints will be acknowledged (within three working days if by email). If possible a definitive response will be made within two weeks. If this is not possible an interim response will be given within two weeks. Interim responses will be provided until the complaint is finally resolved. If the applicant is still unhappy with the response, the complaints should be referred to the editorial office, whose decision is final.

How to Make a Complaint

Complaints about editorial content should be sent as soon as possible after publication, preferably in writing by e-mail to editor@journal.edu.az. You can also use Facebook to chat with us on AJES and ask to speak to the editor-in-chief of the journal to whom you wish to state your complaints.


Publication Ethics

The publication process in the Azerbaijan Journal of Educational Studies is the basis for objective and respectful dissemination of information. Consequently, this process improves the quality of the research system.

Peer-reviewed studies are those that support and materialize the scientific method. At this stage, it is imperative that all parties involved in the publication process (authors, readers and researchers, publishers, reviewers, and editors) adhere to ethical standards. AJES expects all parties to fulfill the following ethical responsibilities.

Authors who submit their manuscripts to Azerbaijan Journal of Educational Studies must comply with the following ethical responsibility:

- Author (s) must submit original research to the journal. If they use other research materials, they must make the in-text and end-text references validly and completely. 

- People who did not participate in the research on an intellectual level should not be credited as the author. If the manuscripts submitted to be published should not be subject to conflicting interests or relations.

- The author (s) must document that they have the consent of the participants and the necessary permissions related to the sharing and research/analysis of the data used.

- The author (s) are responsible for informing the journal editor or publisher if they discover an error in their research which is in the process of early release or publication and for cooperating with the editors during the correction or withdrawal process.

- A study published in another journal cannot be submitted to the Azerbaijan Journal of Educational Studies. 

- It is not ethical to add an author, reorder author names to the submitted study while the review process.

 

Open Access Policy

Azerbaijan Journal of Educational Studies(AJES) has a long historical publishing period since 1924 up today.

Journal has 2 publishing Supplements and 6 unpublishing  Supplements.

All of the articles of the Main Journal and Supplements had been added to the online website of AJES. This online archive is accessible for all users. All of the users, researchers, doctoral or post-doctoral education students, teachers, and students of High School are able to have an access Open Archive. 


Open Access

 

Open access to information is advantageous for humanity as it increases the universal value of information. AJES supports the Budapest Open Access Initiative signed on September 12, 2012. Thus, the open-access policies adopted by the editorial board of AJES can be found at  http://www.budapestopenaccessinitiative.org/boai-10-recommendations.

 

AJES is licensed with Creative Commons "Attribution-NonCommercial-ShareAlike 4.0 International" (CC BY-NC-SA 4.0)

 

Open Access is an approach that facilitates interdisciplinary communication and encourages collaboration between different disciplines. AJES, therefore, contributes to its own field by providing more access to its articles and a more transparent review process, and recommends to the users that libraries include the article contents into library catalog records.

The journal also uses Online Internet archives - American Libraries Internet Archive and Calameo Online Archive.

 

Conflict of Interest

Authors

The authors should be aware of possible conflicts of interest. In such a case, authors still can take responsibility for the accuracy of their article but should inform the reader with an appropriate statement in the Acknowledgements.

Conflicts include the following:

Financial—funding and other payments, goods and services received or expected by the authors relating to the subject of the work or from an organization with an interest in the outcome of the work

Affiliations—being employed by, on the advisory board for, or a member of an organization with an interest in the outcome of the work

Intellectual property—patents or trademarks owned by someone or their organization

Personal—friends, family, relationships, and other close personal connections

Ideology—beliefs or activism, for example, political or religious, relevant to the work

Academic—competitors or someone whose work is critiqued

Declared conflicts of interest will be considered by the editor and reviewers and included in the published article.

Peer-Reviewers

The following cases are considered conflicts for peer-reviewers and should be avoided: 

- Be colleagues in the same section/department or a similar organizational unit in the past 

- Observation/supervision of the doctoral work of the author (s) or observation/observation of the author (s)

- Co-authorship of publications with at least one of the authors in the past 

- If the reviewers have worked with authors on a joint project or if they co-organized an event, it is not considered a conflict of interest.

- Obtaining professional or personal benefits as a result of the review- personal relationship (e.g. family, close friend) with the author (s) 

- The presence of a direct or indirect financial interest in the reviewed document 

Editors and Journal Staff

Editors who make final decisions about manuscripts should recuse themselves from editorial decisions if they have conflicts of interest or relationships that pose potential conflicts related to articles under consideration. Other editorial staff members who participate in editorial decisions must provide editors with a current description of their financial interests or other conflicts (as they might relate to editorial judgments) and recuse themselves from any decisions in which a conflict of interest exists. Editorial staff must not use information gained through working with manuscripts for private gain. Editors should publish regular disclosure statements about potential conflicts of interests related to their own commitments and those of their journal staff. Guest editors should follow these same procedures.


Peer-Review Policy


This journal uses a double-blind peer review system, which means that the identity of the reviewer and author is hidden from the reviewers, and vice versa, throughout the review process.  

To facilitate this process, authors must ensure that their manuscripts are prepared in such a way as their identity stays secret. To help with this preparation, please ensure that when submitting to Azerbaijan Journal of Educational Studies:

- Submit the Title Page with the Authors' details and Blinded Manuscript with no author details as two separate files.

Information to help prepare the Title Page

This should include the title, names of authors, and their affiliates, as well as the full address of the corresponding author, including telephone and email address.

Information to help prepare the Blinded Manuscript 

In addition to the obvious need to remove names and affiliations under a title in a manuscript, there are other steps that need to be taken to ensure that the manuscript is properly prepared for double-blind peer review. To help with this process, the following key points must be followed: 

Use a third party to refer to work that the authors have previously done, such as replacing any phrases like “as we have shown earlier” with “... has been shown earlier [Anonymous, 2019]”.  Make sure the figures do not contain any identifiers associated with the affiliation.

Do not remove essential self-references or other references but limit self-references only to papers that are relevant for reviewers.

Cite papers published by the Author in the text as follows:  ‘[Anonymous, 2019]’.

For blinding in the reference list:  ‘[Anonymous 2019] 

Details eliminated for double-blind reviewing:

- Remove references to funding sources

- Do not include acknowledgments

- Remove any identifying information, including author names, from file names and make certain that document resources are also anonymized.
