The problems in developing students’ writing skills in English language and solution ways of them

The research article aims to investigate internal and external problems of high school students’ English language writing skills in Azerbaijan. The observations and questionnaires were conducted in data collection using a purposeful sample for this study. This study reveals some findings related to students’ low writing skills. The article identifies internal and external problems of students. 

Internal problems in writing are: 1) lack of motivation to learn in English; 2) difficulty in choosing appropriate words in writing process; 3) lack of adequate vocabulary; 4) difficulty in writing words; 5) difficulty in writing sentences in accordance with the relevant grammatical rules; 6) a tendency to passive learning in classroom activities. External problems are: 1) lack of experience in presented writing samples; 2) lack of student motivation; 3) inadequate time; 4) lack of teacher feedback; 5) practical shortcomings. 

Modern writing strategies have been explained in overcoming these problems. The various effective and useful methods in developing writing skills have been explained during the experiment. In addition, the article shows students’ some guidelines on how to solve their problems in writing.
